Welcome to our village - Vestresand - at 68 degrees north. The village where the sun never sets - from late May till late July - and the best place on earth to see Aurora from September till mid April.
This community has some of the most interesting history in Lofoten. The first settlers settled here, as well as the Vikings. The islands in the sea outside the village had up to the 1960s many hundreds residents - most fishermen and traders.
We have a rich fauna and don’t be surprised if you see a moose or five walking by. And in the air the mighty sea eagle dominates. Sometimes we also see orcas in the sea outside the village. But maybe even more important is to care about all the smaller birds and animals that need to be left in peace.
Lofoten has a lot of small communities that are visited by many tourists every year. In some places the infrastructure is not created to cope with the extra load this may entail. But the local communities are doing its utmost to facilitate for all who want to enjoy the values we have in our corner of the planet.
Our goal is that you feel welcome! Therefore, we have several places available to park the motorhome here in our local environment, and we try to arrange so they stay pleasant. In the villages close to peoples homes it’s not possible to park and camp.
All the maintenance at the parking plots is done by volunteers and with funds we collect. We hope you appreciate our hospitality and will contribute to this. It will mean a lot to us if we see that you appreciate the work we do for you.

Some local advices along the way:
Drive considerately and slow
Do not create unnecessary noise, e.g. with music from cars/motorhomes
Clean up after yourself and take your waste
And please do not use nature in our village as a toilet
Leash restraint for dogs from April 1 to October 15
